About Jessica

I’m Dr. Jessica Tabatt, and I’m running for Crow Wing County Commissioner, District 3.

I grew up in Randall and graduated from Little Falls. As a kid, trips to Brainerd/Baxter meant something special - movies, Paul Bunyanland, the mall, or Fourth of July fireworks. It was where memories were made, and I want to ensure this community continues to thrive so future generations can create their own.

I attended the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth and the College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa. I completed my residency at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where I received exceptional training that shaped me into the well-rounded podiatrist this community has come to know. Returning to Central Minnesota was always the goal, and I was grateful to begin my career in Brainerd with Essentia Health. There, I built meaningful relationships with patients and took on leadership roles and board service that allowed me to improve care for both patients and staff.

After nearly a decade in practice, I stepped away to focus on my family. My husband, Zach, and I have been together for over 20 years, and we have two kind, energetic daughters who keep life busy and fun. In recent years, I’ve cherished being present for their school and activities. Our three poodles add a little chaos and a lot of joy. I enjoy reading, podcasts, time at the lake, and staying active at the YMCA. I also enjoy supporting local restaurants and businesses whenever I can.

As I researched the role of county commissioner, I saw how well the role aligned with my experience and values. As a county commissioner, I will focus on representing local residents, setting thoughtful policy, and responsibly overseeing county budgets and operations. My background in healthcare leadership has prepared me to navigate complex challenges, improve systems, and make practical, informed decisions. I believe in respectful, transparent, collaborative, and accountable leadership.

I’m not a career politician, and I don’t have a political agenda—I simply want to serve this community with the skills and experience I’ve built over my career. I care deeply about this area and the people who call it home.
